Responsible for receiving, reviewing and underwriting all business loan applications submitted through the Centralized Business Account Lending Queue. Identifies, analyzes, and evaluates business documents, loan risks and compensating factors that meet lending criteria and are within their approved lending limits. Approves, suspends, or denies business account loan applications and ensures that loans are evaluated within the terms of the Credit Union’s standards and procedures. Communicates with businesses to explain credit policies and to obtain additional loan information and documentation. Presents loan requests above lending limits for approval to Business Account Services Assistant Manager , Business Account Services Manager or Business Services Vice President. Provides support to business members , prospective business members, and branch personnel, ensuring they are promptly and professionally served.
1.Assumes responsibility for a complete knowledge of Business Account Loan Policies and Procedures, Consumer Loan Policies and Procedures, and Consumer Lending Guidelines.
a. Is familiar with and understands Business Account Loan Policies and Procedures, and uses that knowledge when processing and decisioning business account loans, to ensure compliance.
b. Is familiar with and understands Consumer Loan Policies and Procedures to ensure compliance.
c. Will follow Consumer Lending Guidelines that are applicable for business account loans.
2. Assumes responsibility for effectively receiving, reviewing, decisioning, processing and completing loan applications.
a. Receives, reviews, and processes business account loan applications submitted from the branches and departments, in a timely manner. Conducts personal and telephone interviews to discuss the request and get any information not provided from the branch and department employees, credit criteria, interest rates, business owner requirements, and any additional loan documentation needed, in such a manner as to elicit a positive response from the member.
b. Approves loans within limits of authority, requests additional information if necessary notifies applicants of loan decisions. Documents clear justifications for loan decisions and recommendations for any alternatives or waivers to be considered.
c. Verifies employment and income with personal and business tax returns and business financials, using Cash Suite to analyze cash flow when appropriate, ensuring the business has sufficient cash flow to support the loan request.
d. Determines value for any collateral that will secure the loan. Verifies insurance coverage for collateral pledged on the loan.
e. Performs subsequent action and amendment requests to change loan terms.
f. Suggests cross sells to business owners, if loan originators have not.
g. Coordinates and processes loan for closing.
h. Assists in servicing loans by processing loan payoff, refinances, problem loan work-out arrangements, address changes, payment extensions, collateral releases or exchange, and payment due date changes.
i. Ensures that lending operations are conducted in accordance with established Credit Union policies and procedures for Business Account Loans.
j. Performs and assists with training functions as required.
3. Assumes responsibility for ensuring that professional business relations exist with business members and branch personnel.
a. Ensures that requests, questions, and problems are courteously and professionally resolved. Ensures that communications are efficient and effective.
b. Keeps business members properly informed of Credit Union policies and services.
c. Ensures that the Credit Union’s quality and professional reputation is maintained both internally and externally.
d. Counsels business members regarding money management and financial matters. Assists in counseling members whose loan requests were denied, explaining reasons and alternatives.
4. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective communication and coordination with Credit Union personnel and Management.
a. Counsels Loan Originators as necessary to resolve any business member applications problems.
b. Assists and informs departments and branches as needed.
c. Keeps Business Accounts Manager well informed of loan activities, and any other significant problems.
d. Completes required reports, records and other documentation.
e. Attends and participates in meetings and committees as required.
5. Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
a. Actively and professionally cross-sells Credit Union services.
b. Stays informed regarding local and national economic conditions and legal and regulatory changes.
c. Ensures that work areas are clean, secure and well maintained.
d. Assumes other related duties as assigned.
6. BSA Compliance:
a. While performing the job functions and duties listed in this job description, the individual must adhere to, and comply with, all the regulations outlined in the credit union’s Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) policy. This position will be required to complete, understand, and pass the BSA test on an annual basis.
