  • Overview

    The Quality Assurance (QA) Testing Lead assumes responsibility for overseeing the quality testing of electronic systems including digital banking, the public website, Adobe Analytics, SharePoint, and other online applications. Working with cross functional teams, this individual will serve as the lead for proper design, development, maintenance, and execution of project test plans and scripts. Job includes the following responsibilities:

    • Coordinates and oversees testing of electronic services and provides support to staff and/or members when needed
    • Develops and documents testing scripts.
    • Executes test scripts to analyze and certify systems and software functionality prior to release
    • Logs, tracks, and verifies resolution of software functionality and/or design specification defects
    • Works with project managers and vendors on the development of new products to understand testing scope and requirements.
    • Ensures staff is adequately trained and proficient using the latest QA systems and platforms
    • Effectively Interacts and communicates with stakeholders regarding the status of systems being tested
    • Directs and serves as a mentor to less experienced staff

    Responsibilities

    1. Assumes responsibility for testing of new and existing digital products.

     

    1. Designs, develops, and executes automated and manual test scripts to effectively test new and existing products.
    2. Works closely with Project Coordinator, programmers, and vendors in building and delivering quality products.
    3. Oversees and assists with black box, grey box, white box, regression, and smoke testing of software
    4. Designs, develops, and builds testing plans and procedures that ensure delivery of high-quality products and services.
    5. Ensures proper defect tracking.
    6. Assists in defining product requirements and development of test plans.
    7. Ensures documentation is well kept fulfilling audit requirements.

     

    1. Assumes responsibility for effective QA planning.

     

    1. Plans and executes project test plans.
    2. Provide expertise in scope definition, effort estimating and sizing for manual and automation testing.
    3. Continually evaluates established systems and procedures and updates or modifies them as necessary.
    4. Ensures that services are in line with evolving industry trends and are user friendly.
    5. Coordinates departmental testing activities with Programming and Quality Control, and third-party providers.

     

    1. Assumes responsibility of a team that applies and maintains quality testing.

     

    1. Oversees day to day testing operations of the QA testing group
    2. Develop training plans and objectives for all direct reports.
    3. Ensures accurate reporting and documentation of testing for self and team members
    4. Oversees the execution of manual and automated test scripts.
    5. Ensures accuracy and timeliness of all testing.
    6. Communicates findings to management and project coordinators in a timely and efficient manner.

     

    1. Assumes responsibility for ensuring functional usability of products.

     

    1. Ensures that members and staff are assisted with accessing services and troubleshooting account or system problems.
    2. Provides information, answers questions, and tracks and resolves problems promptly.
    3. Ensures that the Credit Union's professional reputation is projected in all on-line processes.

     

    1. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective communication and coordination with company personnel and management.

     

    1. Assists area personnel with system operations.
    2. Reporting of key testing statistics and trends related to test design and execution highlighting system quality and team status against committed project milestones.
    3. Informs management of area activities. Notifies supervisor of operating problems that cannot be corrected by routine procedures.
    4. Attends meetings as assigned.
    5. Completes records, reports, and logs timely.

    2. Completes special projects as assigned.
    3. Stays current on the latest trends in on-line service technology and product testing.

     

    MAJOR CHALLENGES

     

    1. Create a high-quality testing environment for all E-Services products.
    2. Looking for innovative ways to improve the Credit Union's use of technology to improve member services.
    3. Staying current with improvements in electronic service technology and quality assurance testing methods.
    4. Acting as electronic services member advocate as a tester of E-services products and services.
    5. Consistently evaluating all electronic services for enhancements and fixes.
    6. Development of a testing environment with the specific duty of supporting members through any existing or new
    7. electronic means.
    8. Maintaining and organizing current, correct, and effective documentation of testing efforts.

     

    PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS

     

    1. E-Services testing functions are performed efficiently, effectively, and accurately in accordance with established
    2. policies, standards, procedures, and program requirements.
    3. Testing is completed accurately and in a timely manner according to the number of defects and severity of the errors and
    4. concerns that are presented.
    5. On-line members are well supported and assisted by using quality tested AFCU products.
    6. Testing activities are effectively coordinated with Programming and Quality Control.
    7. Professional relations exist with Credit Union personnel. Assistance and support are provided as necessary.

    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS:

     

    Training/Education/Certification:

    • College degree in Computer Science or related field (preferred)
    • High school diploma with equivalent work experience

     

    Required Knowledge:

    • Knowledge of quality assurance testing methodology and practices.
    • Proficient in VBScript for use in test automation.
    • Proficient in automation framework development.
    • Proficient in HP’s QTP/UFT automation testing tool
    • Proficient in HP ALM testing tools.
    • Solid understanding of web service testing / SOA testing concepts separate from manual functional testing
    • Proficient in working with XML, XPath, REST API, SOAP, and WSDL
    • Proficient with Agile Project Management Concepts
    • Knowledge of Financial Institution digital banking products is a plus

     

    Experience Required:

    • Experienced in using tools such as HP ALM, and Quality Center for test planning, execution, and defect management.
    • Experienced with functional test automation
    • 5+ yrs. experience testing technically complex software applications.
    • 2+ yrs. leading or managing functional testing resources within a structured development environment.
    • 2+ yrs. experience required with SOA testing
    • Prior testing of financial services
    • Experience testing on multiple device platforms (OS and browsers)
    • Experience with Credit Union software, electronic services, policies, and procedures.
    • Experienced managing concurrent, multi-platform testing projects.

     

    Skills/Abilities:

    • Excellent time management, planning, and organizational skills.
    • Ability to document, keep records, maintain logs and reports
    • Able to communicate complex testing information to resolve issues quickly
    • Strong problem-solving skills
    • Works well with other departments and personnel.

    Physical Strength: Sedentary Work; sitting most of the time. Exerts up to 10 lbs of force occasionally. (Almost all office jobs.)

     

    BSA COMPLIANCE:

    While performing the job functions and duties listed in this job description, the individual must adhere to, and comply with, all the regulations outlined in the credit union’s Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) policy. This position will be required to complete, understand, and pass the BSA test on an annual basis.
