Overview

Provides professional support and assistance in processing residential mortgage loans. Ensures timely processing of all Credit Union mortgage products to facilitate loan approvals according to Credit Union and Secondary investor standards. Receives, evaluates, and reviews loans for completeness and accuracy to ensure credit and loan packages meet quality and regulatory standards. With a close attention to detail, and urgency, processor is responsible for meeting or exceeding all purchase contract deadlines. Further responsible for providing excellent member service, treating all involved in the transaction as important as the member. This requires professional and timely communication with member, Realtors, title company representatives to ensure a smooth, pleasant transaction. Works to resolve concerns with interested parties or referring more complex issues to the appropriate parties.

Responsibilities

1. Providing effective support for all phases of mortgage loan processing activities.

 

a. Reviews new loan applications.
b. Ensures appraisals, credit reports, mortgage insurance, title reports and all applicable documentation meets underwriting guidelines, reviews income, employment, assets and liabilities to ensure documentation meets Investor requirements. Reviews information for completeness and accuracy while clarifying missing or questionable documentation. Ensures that all necessary items are available for underwriting or follows up with outside sources to collect necessary documentation. Tracks receipt and development of information to ensure compliance with investor and credit union guidelines. Submits loans to underwriting for initial review and subsequent reviews up to and including final approval.
c. Identifies challenges with applications and works with appropriate parties to resolve, referring more serious issues with qualification to the Loan Officer or Loan Officer assistant to resolve.
d. Communicates status of loans to loan officer, .member, realtor and all other interested parties.
e. Prepares and coordinates files for closing. Checks current PR, appraisal, and interest rate lock. Obtains records for homeowner's insurance and flood certification.
f. Reviews pipelines weekly to ensure loans are up to date, compliant, and following REPC deadlines.
g. Prepares miscellaneous correspondence and records.
h. Ensures program investor updates are reviewed timely.
i. Completes assigned projects and other assignments as deemed by management.

 

2. Establishing and maintaining professional business relationships with members and mortgage professionals.

 

a. Meets time line deadlines for lock expirations, closing and funding dates.
b. Resolves (or refers) requests and problems promptly and courteously. Answers member loan questions regarding applications in the process of approval.
c. Keeps loan officer, members and realtors properly informed of Credit Union policies and procedures. Notifies members of additional information required.
d. Maintains and conveys the Credit Union's professional reputation.

 

3. Establishing and maintaining effective coordination and communication with Branch or department team members.

 

a. Assists and supports Credit Union personnel as needed.
b. Attends meetings and training, as required.
c. Keeps management informed of area activities and of any significant problems.

 

4.Other related duties a required or assigned.

 

a. Performs miscellaneous clerical and mortgage related functions as needed.
b. Keeps work area clean, secure, and well maintained.
c. Provides support and coverage for other personnel as required.

Qualifications

Training/Education/Certification:

 

- High school graduate or equivalent.

 

 

Required Knowledge:

 

- Understanding of mortgage loan processing functions, including FHA/VA and conventional lending.

- Knowledge of related requirements, procedures, and underwriting criteria.

 

Experience Required:

 

-Proficient in both conventional purchase and refinance loan transactions.

-Proficient in at least one government loan product

-Knowledge of Jumbo, USDA and NV Housing or Construction products helpful

-Minimum of one-year purchase transaction experience.
