Overview

The Data Governance Analyst will embrace the vision of governance and seek to implement that vision within the boundaries of the policies and procedures of the governance program. The Data Governance Analyst will need to be able to help envision future state, current state, and find gaps to help other individuals teams improve data management practices. We are looking for an individual who is adept at building strong relationships with other people while at the same time being an expert on the data governance tools and processes.

Responsibilities

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Assist with data governance related initiatives. Especially in the realm of Data Quality, Metadata Management (Data Dictionary, Business Glossary, and other: business, technology, and governance asset relationships), and Data Security.
  • Provide insightful experience-based consulting to information workers and decision makers related especially to things like Data Quality, Data Security, and Metadata Management.
  • Analyze business process and data processes to find areas of improvement. Then help to turn those into viable initiatives, projects, and relationships.
  • Train people on the use of the data catalog and governance tool(s).
  • Help Identify, recognize & formalize data owners, steward, and custodians within existing responsibilities.
  • Assist users with crawling, profiling, lineage maintenance, data quality rules, impact analyses, and linking data assets to business terms.
  • Take a special interest in data security, data quality, and metadata management initiatives.
  • Act as a representative of the Data Governance Office in meetings and communications. This includes capturing the vision, knowing the details of the direction of our program.
  • Help develop training materials and resources for participants in data governance activities.

  • Seek to understand the perspectives of others, and good at educating non-experts on complex problems and solutions.
  • Knowledge and Experience with the US consumer financial services market, regulations, products & services.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
• A total of 8 years of Education and Experience.
• Option 1 : Bachelors in a STEM field + Masters degree in STEM field + 2 Years working experience
• Option 2: Bachelors in a STEM field + 4 Years working experience
• Option 3: 8 Years working experience
• Work Experience includes the following:


o At least 2 years of experience performing data management activity such as: Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing, Database Administration, Data Science, Master Data Management, Data Quality, Business Data Stewardship (formalized), Data Privacy and Compliance, Data Integration and Interoperability, Metadata Management, Reference Data Management. Data management activity may fulfill all years of work experience.
o However; For options 2 and 3 - Work experience beyond the minimum 2 years of data management activity may be in one of the following areas: information systems and technology (Networks, Security, Database, Software/Web Development, Technical Support, IT Project Management, etc.), Teaching / Curriculum Development, Training, Technical Writing, Leadership (Manager / Team Leader), Decision making role that generated, enhanced, or consumed data as a major part of the job.


DESIRED EXPERIENCE:


• Experience Working with one or more Data Management tools such as Informatica, Collibra, Alation, Atlan, IBM InfoSphere Data Governance, Talend, Alteryx, Ovaledge, Ataccama ONE, ASG Enterprise Data Intelligence, Claravine, Egnyte, Erwin Data Governance, Precisely Data 360, SAP Master Data Governance, Semarchy xDM, Talend Data Catalog, OneTrust, D&B Connect, Azure Purview, Qlik Catalog, Salesforce Data Studio, Profisee, Claravine, Apache Atlas, Semarchy, Manta Flow, Dataedo and similar platforms. Experience with Collibra is most desired.
• Experience with Ticketing, and Project Management tools such as those offered in the Atlassian stack (Jira and Confluence).

• Experience with Data Management Technologies such as:


o Database Administration (Oracle, MS SQL, MySQL, etc.) & Database Development (SQL),
o Data Warehousing tools (ETL, Snowflake, Oracle Exadata, etc.),
o Business Intelligence Tools (Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, Microstrategy, etc.),
o Data Diagramming & Modelling Tools,
o Data Security Tools,
o Data Integration Tools (API middleware, Web hooks, etc.),
o Master Data Management tools and processes.
