The Merchant Services Sales rep is considered an outside sales position and will be responsible for establishing and enhancing business relationships through the sales of card processing solutions. Prospect new relationships by networking, cold calling, or other means of generating interest from potential members. The Merchant Services Sales Rep will be responsible to create and execute a results-oriented sales plan focusing on new and existing business members as well as other business.
Familiar with a variety of merchant services concepts, practices, and procedures. Evaluates and implements appropriate sales techniques to increase sales volume. May recommend product or service enhancements to improve business member’s satisfaction and sales potential. Negotiate pricing as well as providing statement comparisons.
Will be responsible for properly allocating resources and analyzing areas for best potential for growth and to meet strategic objectives. Work with the Business Development Manager to coordinate activities and sales opportunities.
Merchant services representative will work closely with business development representatives, management, branches/departments to provide best practices, tools, procedures, and solutions for Merchant Services activities. Providing service and support through the sale cycle and in maintaining business relationships. Cross-sells additional products and services to businesses providing referrals to appropriate areas.
Will be responsible for increasing business membership usage along with all products and services for both the member business owner business needs along with servicing existing AFCU business merchant accounts.
As a representative will be responsible for best practices associated with IT systems/peripherals including iPads, Lending and Tellering Systems, Business Development applications, and other systems/peripherals.
The Merchant Services Sales and Service representative will be required to have a thorough and detailed understanding of the Credit Unions Products, Services, and Solutions available for Members with business and consumer needs. In addition, will be responsible to have an overall knowledge of the competition to the Credit Union including the products/services that we compete with.
1. Assisting in sales strategies and implementation of those efforts in daily activities
2. Tracking business development activities and associated results to show their resourcefulness to achieve the strategic objectives.
a) Maintains up-to-date computer database of contacts and presentations
b) Relationship management tracking
3. Meet and maintain relations with key members/relationships, then leveraging that network to achieve organizational sales goals
4. Communicate and receive proper approval from the Business Development Manager on all community involvement
5. Develop and present relevant business proposals to potential Members and/or existing.
6. Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences and provide feedback and information on market and creative trends
7. Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to an increase in sales.
8. Understanding of the community and target populations in their assigned areas
9. Planning persuasive approaches and pitches that will convince potential members to do business with AFCU, often being required to make presentations on solutions and services that meet or predict their member’s future needs.
10. Develop and maintain relationships with technical staff/internal departments
11. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective, professional business relations with members and business owners.
a. Ensures Credit Union service standard baselines and expectations are met.
b. Ensures that members’ requests and questions are promptly resolved, professionally handle members’ complaints.
c. Ensures that members and future members are fully informed of services and products. Works to provide services and products that the member needs and requested.
d. Ensures that the Credit Union’s quality reputation is maintained and projected.
12. Extensive travel will be needed to fulfill this job. Will assume responsibility to accurately monitor and record travel miles
a) Position requires flexibility with schedule and ability to travel to/from events, local businesses, branches, etc.
b) Logging miles and activities on a weekly/monthly basis
c) Must have a valid driver’s license and own mode of transportation
d) Time management of activities to best use resources given
a. Ensure mileage is accurately and properly recorded.
b. Ensures that steps are taking to limit the need of driving back and forth from the office to appointments multiple times. Filling in outbound time with cold calling, prospecting or developing other leads or contacts along with visits to existing members. Scheduling multiple appointments on one trip.
c. Use of Credit Union vehicle might be better suited for some activities. Managing and taking responsibility of planning and using
AFCU motor vehicles when appropriate.
Always abide by all laws regulations and guidelines when driving either a personal vehicle or an AFCU provided vehicle.
