Starting pay $15.50 - $19.15 depending on experience!

This is considered a full-time position - 30 hours per week!

What will you do?

  • Tellers act as service representatives responsible for providing a variety of paying and receiving functions, including processing deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, cashiers’ checks, money orders and cash advances.
  • Responsible for balancing each day’s transactions and verifies cash totals.
  • Establishes and builds member relationships by identifying members’ needs and educating them about specific products and/or services. Enthusiastically cross-sells Credit Union services.
  • Performs a broad variety of member services functions such as opening and closing accounts, renewing certificates, and assisting members with bookkeeping and account maintenance.
  • Certified Tellers should be able to resolve more complex member transactions independently, refer members, as necessary.
  • Responsible for helping members via all channels such as phone, mail, text, email, and assisting members with video solutions, and self-serve channels.
  • Actively promotes and cross sells digital services to members and serves as a digital services expert in the branch.
  • Performs various clerical functions and assists other Service Representatives with duties as required.
  • Serves members promptly and professionally.
  • Ability to attain expected baselines in sales, volume, and service is expected to support branch goals.

Responsibilities

Assumes responsibility for the efficient, effective, and accurate performance of teller functions:

    1. Represents the Credit Union in a courteous and professional manner.
    2. Receives deposits and loan payments.
    3. Processes cash advances, traveler's checks, cashier's checks, money orders, bank to bank wires, Western Union wires, and Federal tax deposits.
    4. Disburses cash or check withdrawals.
    5. Processes transfers.
    6. Verifies transactions. Monitors deposit amounts, and examines documents for endorsement and negotiability. Detects and resolves discrepancies promptly.
    7. Balances daily transactions and verifies cash totals. Investigates and resolves out-of-balance conditions.
    8. Processes "bank by mail" transactions.

Assumes responsibility for the effective and professional performance of member service functions:

    1. Presents and explains Credit Union services and products to members and assists in meeting their financial needs. Opens and closes accounts. Orders checks for members' accounts. Completes payroll deduction and authorization forms.
    2. Answers questions and solves problems for members by listening to problems, collecting data, securing answers, and reporting results to the inquiring party. Resolves member bookkeeping and checking account problems. Takes stop payment orders.
    3. Receives and directs members and telephone calls. Responds to inquiries and questions if possible or directs them as necessary. Records and relays messages.
    4. Performs file maintenance and account changes as needed.
    5. Keeps members informed of Credit Union services and policies, including types of available accounts, interest and dividend rates, payroll deduction options, and other related services.
    6. Maintains and projects the Credit Union's professional reputation. Maintains privacy of member account information.
    7. Actively cross-sells Credit Union products and services.
    8. Assists with completing dealer payoffs and with delivery of titles.

Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective coordination and working relationships with area personnel and with management:

    1. Assists area personnel as required. Provides guidance to Service Reps and Trainees. Assists with training and orientation as needed.
    2. Keeps supervisor informed of area activities and of any significant problems or concerns.
    3. Completes required reports and records accurately and promptly.
    4. Attends meetings and gives trainings as required or assigned.

Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned:

    1. Keeps work area clean, well-maintained, and secure.
    2. Performs related clerical duties as required.
    3. Performs large currency transaction reporting, ATM balancing, and night drop functions as assigned.

Qualifications

Training/Education/Certification:

    • High school graduate or equivalent.

Required Knowledge:

    • Solid understanding of Credit Union operations.
    • The ability to speak Spanish fluently is required.

Experience Required:

    • Customer service or cashiering experience helpful.

Skills/Abilities:

    • Excellent communication skills and willingness to assist others.
    • Professional appearance, dress, and attitude.
    • Solid math skills.
    • Ability to operate related computer applications.
    • Good typing skills.
